Hello ,

I’m getting ready to try my 1st Collodial Gold Via The chemical reduction Method .
Iv ordered the magnetic stirrer/ Hot Plate .
1% Gold chloride
I have ready the Karo and Washing soda mixture.
And how should I know when the chloride is eliminated from the mixture ?

My question is how long do I keep it on the hot plate stirring and what should be the ideal temperature?

Thank you , your help is greatly appreciated.

Start with 250ml distilled water.
Turn on stirrer
Add Karo, 5 drops minimum, more is ok.
Add sodium carbonate (1/4 ml).
Add 1 ml gold chloride.
Stir for 10 seconds
Put in microwave on high for 2 to 3 minutes
When color changes to ruby red, its done.
If you use enough Karo, there will be no ionic gold remaining.
You can test this by adding more Karo and watching for additional color change.

Colloidal Silver is only a bargain if you make it yourself.

At what stage do I ad$ the gelatin capping agent ?
Can I use the hot plate instead of the microwave? If so how long do I keep it on the hot plate ?

Thank you very much!
Can’t wait to start it .

Add the gelatin capping solution after its finished and still hot.
I've never used the hot plate for making CG.  Try it, it will probably work.
Heat to just below boiling with stirrer turned on.  You will probably be able to smell chlorine coming out of the solution.

Yes when I demonstrated the Turkevich method which requires heating for a longer time.

Colloidal gold is particles, so can be filtered out.  As it becomes more concentrated though, its particle size will most likely increase.

Why would you want to do that?  You can reclaim it by evaporating the water, and then burning out the sugar.
