Ready to Buy SilverTron Elite V3 Help appreciated
« on: March 11, 2018, 11:26:18 PM »
I am ready to place my order to buy a SilverTron Elite V3. I feel I have read the first four pinned articles enough times that I now understand what I should be buying. So other than The SilverTron Elite V3, I need to buy a heating stirrer, a mason jar, reducing agent, a scale, steam distilled water and a ppm tester. Is this everything I need? I have been researching for so long that I think it's time to just buy the equipment and start. I want to follow everything Kephra suggests to the T.

Am I forgetting any pieces of equipment? Do you see the benefit of buying a steam distiller as well? Does the SilverTron Elite V3 come with something to hold the silver in the proper place, like a lid?

I'm excited to get started and I feel confident doing "V) Electrolysis Combined with a Reducing Agent" is the best method.

Any advice for this newbie is appreciated. Especially when it comes to buying the beginning equipment.
Thanks,
Cher

Cher,

Your shopping list seems pretty complete. You said a parts per million tester as part of your list, did you mean a Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) meter? If so, that would be optional as it is only used to make sure that your distilled water that you start with is zero or very close to it. The TDS meter can not measure the PPM of the colloidal silver....at least not accurately and with the Elite, you already know what your PPM will be since you use the soft touch screen to adjust the PPM and batch size to whatever you want. A distiller is only needed if you plan to make your own distilled water and that would likely depend on where you are. In the states, a gallon of distilled water can be had for less than a dollar, but other parts of the world may be significantly more, making a distiller more practical. Also, if you plan to make mostly 320 ppm colloidal silver, you will use only minimal amounts of distilled water compared to 20 ppm colloidal silver. The magnetic stirrer/hot plate is a must for making high PPM silver nanoparticles and or running at high milliamp settings.

For myself, I opted for a basic beaker set from Amazon. I think it was between $20 and $30 if I remember correctly. I like it because the openings make it easier to clean than a mason jar. I use the one liter and 500 ml beaker to make 20 ppm colloidal silver and I use the 250 ml beaker to make 320 ppm colloidal silver which is what I use the most. The borosilate glass can also take more extreme temperature changes than the mason jars without cracking. I did crack one mason jar when I poured colloidal silver in it that was too hot.  I did buy various size mason jars, but I use them for storage only.

Yes, the V.3 Elite comes with an electrode holder that is predilled for proper electrode spacing and doubles as a lid .

One thing I always recommend is to upgrade to a one ounce silver bar over a silver wire or rod. The bar, because of its relatively large surface area is more efficient than the wires and in conjunction with your hot plate/magnetic stirrer will allow you to run your batches as high as 15 ma which will equate to shorter run times and a very good quality finished product. The silver bar also lasts a very long time compared to the wires.

I did not see Arm and Hammer Washing Soda on your list. You will need a box of that to make your electrolyte solution and a bottle of Karo light syrup to make your reducer. Lastly, if you plan to make high parts per million colloidal silver such as 320 ppm, you will also need Knox Gelatin in the small packets to use as a capping agent.

If you have other questions, just post them and they will get answered.

Cher,

I think most people buy the SH-2 hotplate/stirrer found on Amazon. It is sold under various trade names.
Colloidal Silver is only a bargain if you make it yourself.

Thank you so much Art for taking the time to reply with all that info! Thank you Kephra as well! I really appreciate it!

Yes, thank you for the reminder about the washing soda. I do have unflavoured gelatine in my cupboard. I also have corn syrup in my cupboard. Would that work? Or does it need to be Karo syrup? That isn't a brand sold in Canada that I have seen. I do see it on Amazon though. Do you think the name brand really matters?

I do like the idea of upgrading to a one ounce silver bar. I will investigate that because now I am wondering if you use 2 silver bars to replace both silver rods or just one. I am wondering where to source that out and approximately how much that costs. I am in Canada.

Thank you for the heads up about the beakers on Amazon too. I found them. I had forgotten that I had read that mason jars can break from the heat.

I was actually mistaken about the PPM meter vs the TDS meter. I would have bought the wrong thing! I am leery of the quality of steam distilled water as it is the foundation of the product. I plan on using it to test the distilled water I can buy in the store (and judge from there if I need to look into buying my own steam distiller). I hope the quality will be fine. I live in a small town so I'm crossing my fingers. Does the SilverTron Elite have any way to measure if your water is poor quality? I know some generators just won't start if the water quality is poor.

Thank you so much for your replies. I have everything in my carts on Amazon and the SilverTron store. I just need to look into the silver bars and decide about the TDS meter.

I do have one more question about ppm. If you mainly make 320 ppm colloidal silver, do you dilute that to drink? Do you chose that ppm because you dilute it and it stretches it out further or is there a specific purpose for each different ppm batch?

Thank you so much!
Cher

A different brand will probably work fine.  Golden syrup is also an option.

I am wondering where to source that out and approximately how much that costs. I am in Canada.  Almost any coin dealer should have silver bullion bars.  You would need to attach a pure silver lead wire to it.  With the ones I sell, I weld the lead wire to the bar.
You only want one silver bar for the anode.  Using a silver bar for both electrodes is actually detrimental.

The SilverTrons do not have the ability to measure water quality.  To do so would require very accurately made electrodes.

For internal use, the 320 ppm should be diluted.  1 tablespoon to 8 ounces of water.  For external use, you can use it full strength.

Cher,

I have only used the Knox gelatin and know that it works flawlessly so I have not looked any further, plus the big box of packets I bought from Walmart is going to last me for years.......probably well past the expiration date on the box.

Same thing with the Karo syrup.......I just mix it with 50% vodka so it won't grow mold......works very well so I haven't looked any further. If you have Golden Syrup in Canada, I believe others have mentioned using it as well. In any case, someone will have an answer for you.

As far as the silver bar, they do have them at the SilverTron Store for a reasonable price with a silver lead wire attached that will be the right diameter to fit your Elite electrode holder and it can be shipped with your Elite unit if you add it to your order. I think Bill, used to offer an upgrade option when ordering one of his generators. It comes with a silver wire, but for a bit more money you could upgrade the wire to a silver bar.......a worthwhile upgrade imo if he still offers that option. It would be a waste to use a silver bar or wire for your cathode electrode (negative/black lead). For the cathode you can just use a piece of number 14 copper wire that costs about a few cents. Use the silver bar for your anode (red/positive lead). It will last a long time.

I am not familiar with the quality of distilled water in Canada, so the TDS meter may be helpful initially to find out which manufacturer consistently has good water. Here in the states, it seems that most manufacturers deliver good distilled water.

Regarding 320 ppm silver nanoparticles, yes, I always dilute it. One tablespoon (US) dilutes to make one cup of 20 ppm. You can dilute it in almost any kind of water, tea, coffee, sports drink etc. That is why making 320 ppm can save so much on distilled water. Also it is much easier to take 320 ppm with you when traveling or ship to someone else because a small amount can be diluted to a large amount. I generally make a 250 ml beaker of 20 ppm at a time and it can be diluted to make approximately one gallon of 20 ppm.  Some people like to make 40 or 50 ppm for topical use, but I generally will just dilute 320 ppm to whatever I happen to need at the time. The exception for me is if I am going to use the colloidal silver in a ultrasonic humidifier to inhale, then I use plain uncapped 20 to 30 ppm.

I took that option out of the store because the software wasn't smart enough to subtract the bullion bar from inventory.

wow Art, thank again for taking the time to explain all that. I really appreciate it!

Kephra- is there any chance on upgrading to a silver bar with my order?

Awesome! Thank you! I added it and am just at the check out. There is a Redemption Code option. Is there a Redemption Code I could use?

Cher,

I forgot one thing that you might need, an electrode holder to fit your one liter beaker, but that is okay because you won't need that until you have your one liter beaker in hand and then you will have to measure your beaker exactly. Kephra makes custom electrode holders to fit most  beakers, but you have to have the exact size of your beaker so he can make the holder/lid to fit exactly. Good luck!

Good morning! I was ready to buy last night and I now see you're sold out. How long until the Elite can be purchased?  :)

Thanks Dean!

Art, thank you. I did buy his beaker cover. Rats. I guess I should have waited to measure my beaker size when it gets here. Oh well. I will deal with it then and possibly buy a different size from him. Hopefully it fits!
